Landfill on the Lawn is an annual event organized by the Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling’s operations supervisor, Ben Kunka. Get up close and personal with a dumpster’s worth of trash, and see how many pounds of recyclable materials were headed to the landfill, taking up space, taking thousands of years to break down, and not having a second chance to be useful again. Student volunteers will be sporting white bio-hazard suits, sorting the trash from the recyclables on the lawn outside of Stone Building and along side College Avenue.
The mountain of garbage will arrive the morning of October 22, and student volunteers will begin digging in at 1:00pm. Stop by and see how much waste unnecessarily heads to the landfill every day. If you are interested in participating, leave a comment and someone will get in touch with you.
