Holiday Sustainable Tips

Holiday Season is coming fast and while we spend time with our love ones, we cannot forget that this is a very important season to be sustainable. With all the cooking that we must do and the gifts that we will need to buy, it is key that we maintain the sustainable practices that we use throughout the year, if not more so!

Check out Pinterest for some creative DIY! They will save you money and gas from traveling to the mall! They are easy to do Christmas gifts! You could also check your local thrift stores (e.g. Bargain Box and Across the Tracks) for some creative and local finds. You never know what you may find!

When you are shopping for that perfect gift for your love ones try to shop locally. This will not only save money and gas but it will boost the local economy and you never know what you may find! Check out downtown for some really cool shops! Also for those who are tricky to buy for or for a great gift idea you could get gift cards at the restaurants Natty Greene’s, Mellow Mushroom, McCoul’s, and the Green Bean. As for shops Just Be, Civic Threads, and Design Archives!

If you are the one who is cooking this meal, why not try some organic meal recipes that you can find at http://www.organicauthority.com/organic-food-recipes/. It is rather easy to try  and no one will ever know the difference!

You may be the only environmentalist in the family! But, that is okay! Check out this website from Sierra Club, for some really helpful hints and tricks to try to convince your family that green is the way to go! http://www.sierraclub.org/holiday-survival-guide/
